API是 American Petroleum Institute 即:“美国石油学会”的缩略语。API 组织成立于1919年。该组织根据行业的特点和行业内自身的需要。在1924年制定了API规范,对石油行业相关产品的生产进行了技术规范指导。由于 API组织制定的API规范以其先进性、通用性、安全性以及美国石油产业在世界范围内的影响力不断扩大,API规范已经为世界各国广泛采用。因此,API 组织原来意义上美国石油行业的学术组织,如今,已演变为跨越国界的石油行业权威学术组织。
